HELLO I stopped blogging because I could not get on the site or post so I stopped trying...well, this morning I tried and it worked so I am back!
How are you all? hubby has had a lot of back pain and had a stent put in due to blockage a week before Christmas...never really feels very well. Stopped using his sleep apnea machine...ugh...oh well, said he felt it was smothering him...one day at a time...his sugar is under control and blood pressure is good but he is fatigued and suffering with the back pain. He goes to a chiropractor next week...hoping that could improve his quality of life.
good to be back...XO
Hubby was diagnosed years ago with diabetes but I just realized that it has a real hold on me living with it daily.

Better day!
Hubby seems peppier and happier today. He was on an antibiotic last week for a three week old cough and maybe he is simply feeling better finally. HURRAY! my sis and folks are taking a trip to visit relatives and hubby will be here, but two sons are around so I am hopeful all will go well.
I will post again when I can. I am glad to be back with my supportive pals.

Been a long long time...
Not much of a supportive buddy lately but I am back. hubby has been in good moods BUT NO PEP. Sleeping, eating, reading, watching TV....That's about all he seems to want to and can do. Blood sugar readings have been good for the most part and he is pretty disciplined about eating but not a saint...the thing i hate is that he quit chewing tobacco but went back to it. UGH...oh well. goods moods...no pep. We are hoping for more pep but not sure that will happen. Still no right eye peripheral vision after the stroke last January.
I sometimes feel sad because he so little pep. but we are going to go away for our 40th wedding anniversary so who knows...maybe away he will feel peppier and less tired.
hope you all are doing well.
hugs

one day at a time
Hubby had a sleep apnea test and is anxious to wear the sleep apnea mask to bed now. He wants to, he is so tired of being tired.
His blood sugar is fairly well controlled lately.
He is still experiencing loss of peripheral vision and I do the driving.
We are having vegetable juice each morning, inspired by Joe Cross and his wonderful FAT, SICK, NEARLY DEAD documentary. We are both trying to eat more raw vegetables but no white potatoes, tomatoes, or peppers since they cause inflammation.
I am speaking at my publisher's convention this Saturday so we are combining it with a visit with our oldest son and family. I am looking forward to it.
I hope you are well...hugs and love.

Long time...
Much to update...had a tenth grandchild...went to meet the little cutie and did...then hubby woke up with no peripheral vision in his right eye...had a stroke. We are dealing with that and he also has other things going on...swollen aorta...have an appt. soon with a vascular surgeon...so for the most part he has control over his sugar but sleeps a lot and has all these other health concerns lately. I keep positive, but am doing all the driving which I don't mind but am concerned with his health in general...like things are getting good and now what...staying positive. HUGS and LOVE

howdy
Had a scare yesterday...hubby was soooo tired, just wanted to sleep...was blah. I just had a bad feeling. I even asked him if he'd had a stroke. Seems like an extreme reaction, but it made me realize again that I am married to diabetes. He is okay today...but I am on watch at all times. How are you, ladies?

checking in
I got through Thanksgiving! hubby was off...eating pies etc and I noticed a difference...now that he is almost always in the good blood reading range I saw how he was back to the high sugar behaviors...mind games...mean spirited at times...don't miss that...he is back to better choices this week so yeah!
how are you all doing?

how are you?
I miss my gals...how are you all doing? Things are good for the most part...yes, i am still married to a man who has diabetes and it is a daily reality for both of us, but the managing part has been going well...he takes care of his pills, ordering, putting them in the daily pill keeper, etc. I have his insulin and syringes in my purse and an extra blood monitor in my purse for when we are out and about. It has been working for us.
We ordered an eliptical machine for the house so he can get more exercise and not battle the elements etc. I will report back after it arrives to let you know how that is going.
You gals mean a lot to me and I have been neglectful lately...that will change...on a personal note...I sent my manuscript off to the agent who is interested in reading it.

Things are good here...
I have not been on for a while...hubby has been doing great, sugarwise and otherwise. I went to a writers conference and have been working on my novel to send to the agent who might be interested and our sons' band debuted in NYC so we have been away a lot. I have to say that all in all things have been wonderful. Tom's endocrinologist is so please that his readings are so much better. Life is good. I hope it is for all of you too. If not, my love and hugs for better days. XOXOXO

good days
Sugar readings continue to be acceptable and mood = easy breezy. I am so pleased. Tuesday he has an MRI on his head to see how the tumor on his pituitary gland is doing. His sciatica situation is better but he certainly does not want to injure himself so he keeps a low profile in regards to trying to exercise. When we were in California we walked about a mile to a restaurant and then of course we ate and had to walk back, it was hard for him, he complained about his hip aching. But all in all, he is upbeat and his sugar readings are refreshingly acceptable after years and years of HIGH HIGH HIGH readings.
We were in California because I was attending the Santa Barbara Writers Conference. It was wonderful. I got a lot of good advice about making my novel better from those in the know. Evenings were spent listening to best selling authors: Clive Cussler, Erich Puchner, Drusilla Campbell, Simon Van Booy, and TC Boyle. It was a dream come true for me to participate in the workshops and hear the success stories. An agent is willing to look at my manuscript after I work on some things that were pointed out to me.
I am in a good place and it feels good. I hope this finds you in a good place too. HUGS and LOVE.

Daily diabetic drama
My husband is a good actor, I have seen him on the stage in numerous musicals, always in the lead...so I know he can act...but I don't think he's acting when he sits in a chair the entire day, only getting up to go to the bathroom and get something to eat, in between my bringing him something to eat. Is he that tired??? I came downstairs this morning to the living room in disarray...was he so tired from sitting all day that he couldn't at least fold the blankets and make the room look more presentable??? It seems like a little thing... he can't entertain washing dishes because he can't stand long...so okay I will do all dishes all the time...but fold a blanket??? oh well...seems small compared to other things to complain about...it is just that it is what it is...and sometimes a little thing gets to me in a BIG way.

Out of control!
He's been doing well, readings have been where they should be...but today he messed up and was eating candy everytime I looked at him...and then we noticed he had not taken any pills today...ugh...over 300 when he took his reading...so he took pills and had a sandwich and his insulin shot and the sons got all the candy out of the house...
It isn't like I am a bad example I have not had even a piece of candy since last October...I freaked out learning about autoimmune diseases and how it is not good to have sweets and like an alcoholic I can't even have one piece...it leads to more more more...so here I am the nondiabetic not eating candy and he's a diabetic and eating candy...I was so annoyed...but he stopped and he looked remorseful so I guess that is the way it is.
Not out of the woods yet.
And the pain is still there so he mostly sits...this too shall pass, or will it?
HUGS all around. YOU GALS ARE THE BEST!

Rough going
He's suffering...with pain pills without pain pills...quality of life is poor. And yet his spirits are still good and his sugar readings are much more acceptable these days...so on we trudge through the gates of diabetic hell...but I can't complain...his spirits are good. That's half the day to day battle. HUGS to you all.

How low will it go
Well, hubby complained about not feeling well and being clammy...he took his blood sugar and it was 74. He just ate a sensible meal, roast chicken, asparagus, baked potatoes and a few strawberries...he tested is blood pressure and it was good...then he had a banana and a pear but he still felt off, not well...he tried a little homemade granola I made out of buckwheat flakes, honey, raisins, and nuts...perhaps this is low for him and that is why he felt the way he did. I am not used to lows...he had a new diabetic med added so maybe it will take time for him to get it all regulated. HUGS hope you all are having a lovely evening.

You guys are right according to this source...
My hubby may be adamant about people remembering what they do even with low sugar, but many sources support what you all are describing, the actions that come about with low sugar, the acts that are forgotten. Google it and you will see, so sorry I upset you with what my husband believes...I told him what I found and he still thinks that people remember, perhaps his has never been low enough to know. He has been clammy and disoriented when low. HUGS
